Last week, the Miss America Organization announced that the pageant would be returning this year to Las Vegas and the Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort.
It looks like the 2011 pageant is shaping up to be quite the affair. We will be on ABC, in glitzy Las Vegas, celebrating the 90th anniversary of the pageant.
All 53 contestants have been crowned (!) and I am looking forward to getting to know them and the Outstanding Teens in Orlando. The MAOT pageant is coming up sooner than I thought!
Here at fourpoints headquarters, we are just sending out the August/September issue featuring Gretchen Carlson on the cover. It was a real honor to speak with Gretchen and have her in our magazine celebrating our fifth anniversary. It's a delight to speak to former Miss Americas for several reasons. One, OMG IT'S A FORMER MISS AMERICA. Of course, it's also incredibly interesting to get their perspective on holding the title. It's fascinating how different our Miss Americas are, but they all have a special quality. I have never spoken to a former Miss America and wondered why she was chosen. It is always very clear to me why she stood out to the judges that year.
Speaking of judges, who do you think will / should judge the 2011 pageant? There is usually a former on the panel and I vote for Lee Meriweather because doggone it, I like her and I think she'd be a great judge - esp. for an anniversary year.
I would also like to bring back Nigel Barker (call me, Nigel) as a judge but I am not sure if there are rules about that...
Anyway! Who else should be on the panel? Let me know what YOU think in the comments!
