Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs, the exhibit that has drawn crowds of students across the country, is coming to New York City in spring 2010. Group tickets are now available for the exhibit, which tells the story of the legendary Pharaoh who took the throne when he was no older than a third grader.
Teachers can explore the mysteries of ancient Egypt with their class, navigating through the treasures unearthed from the boy king’s tomb, and learning about Egyptian life through the objects King Tut planned to take to the afterlife. Students will have the rare opportunity to explore history, firsthand, and to see ancient objects that rarely leave their native country.
Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs, which will be on display from late April through December 2010 at the new Discovery Times Square Exposition facility, marks the first time a collection of treasures from King Tut’s tomb has visited the city since the groundbreaking 1979 exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This is a once in a generation opportunity for students, as it offers the last chance to see these historical relics before they leave the United States and begin their eventual journey to their permanent home in the Grand Museum in Cairo.
Group tickets, which will be designated for a specific date and time so that student groups can avoid long wait times, can be reserved at www.kingtutnyc.com.
